Why are we doing this?
We actually get this question alot. I have always had an interest in helping other children since our first child Emily was born, (she is now 8). My husband David and I attended an info session on fostering children, but the timing wasn't right with such a small one in the house so we put it on hold and had 2 more children...our boys - Jared (now 6) and Caleb (now 4). Then, in Dec 2004 I saw an interview with Lisa Ling on Oprah, yes, I said Oprah. It was an expose on China, their culture and adoption. I taped it and had David watch it later that day, and that's when the seed was planted. Over the next couple of months we talked, searched ourselves, prayed to see if this was right for our family. So, we started to find an adoption agency, social worker and all the other stuff required to do and our paperwork was sent to China Oct/05 and we have our Log In Date (LID) of November 9, 2005. It has been a long road, but there is a beautiful baby girl waiting for us to be her forever family. People say, oh she is so lucky to have you as parents ... in fact, the reality of the situation is that it will be US that are the lucky ones to have a beautiful little girl added to our lives !
